The Origins of Blackjack - How to Uncover the Truth

The Origins of Blackjack – How to Uncover the Truth

There is a surprisingly large amount of information available to the average player on the history of blackjack. With so much information available, some players can get the answer to the question ‘How to win at Blackjack?’ but not all of them will be willing to give this information. If you’ll have the integrity to discover the truth, not the gloss, you can enjoy a richer understanding of this game instead of a poor one based on false facts.

First of all, by ‘the truth’, I mean that there are lots of blackjack players who insist that their method of counting cards is perfectly mathematically sound. Let’s face it, if you know the odds on every possible hand and outcome, wouldn’t you fold every hand and be quite happy not to make anything? Blackjack is a games of perceived odds, not pure luck.

If you are like me, you’ll probably think that blackjack card counting is pure luck. I remember a few years ago when a friend and mentor told me he played blackjack with a system. I bit the bullet and followed along with him as he broke up with me. At the time, I was a real skeptic based on common sense but went along with it because, hey, he was a blackjack expert. Let’s call this method the Gutshot Card Counting Method.

This myth is not completelyifiable, but the backing for it is solid. Below I will present three pieces of evidence from the random field starting at page 102 of the http://www.blackjackcardcounting.commanual.

  1. You must Unequivistically Understand the Risk

Before you can learn to card count, you have to understand the odds of the game and what you can do to reduce those odds and increase your chances of winning. Just taking blackjack as an example, the house has an advantage of about 0.5% which is greater than any skill based skill. Is it possible to hve an edge? You bet it is.

  1. Card Counting and the Hi-Lo Counting System

Before you learn to card count, you have to learn the basic card counting system that can be found in the book “Hongkong Pools” by Richard A. Epstein. Know the system by heart and you will not have a problem. During the counting, you have to keep track of high cards, which cards have not been played yet, and low cards, which cards have been played. You want to know when you have a surefire advantage over the house.

  1. Card Counting and 8 or Better

Winning at blackjack is possible using an advanced card counting system that goes beyond even card counting. The 8 or better count cards have a higher advantage because the card is dealt face up. However, card counting is not required to use this system.

The Hi-Lo Card Counting system is played in a balanced card counting system. This is a system that if you count through all the cards, you will always know when you have the advantage over the house!
